THE INITIATE COLLECTION

A hand-made ritual based collection exploring the rites of initiation from separation to sovereignty.

EARRINGS

ON INITIATION

Across cultures, initiation marks the passage from one state of being into another.

Anthropologically, rites of initiation follow a shared structure, namely, separation from what was known, a period of ordeal and endurance, transformation and then a return with altered status and/or understanding.

The Initiate Collection follows this arc on multiple levels. It draws from the anthropological framework of initiation, while also reflecting a personal initiation into jewelry making as a craft and discipline.

Each piece functions as a marker within this structure, corresponding to a stage of initiation and the transformation it signifies.

RINGS

Kiota Ring
NOK 450.00

The Kiota Ring belongs to the Liminality phase of The Initiate Collection, it is the suspended space between separation and incorporation.

In Swahili, Kiota means “nest.”

Inspired by African bird nesting structures and instinctual acrhitecture, the ring reflects how forms emerge through repetition during periods of uncertainty and transition.

Crafted from soft, lead-free metals (Sn 95 %, Ag 5 %), the Kiota Ring offers a subtle balance of strength and fluidity. It is nickle-free and suitable for daily wear.

It is designed to be light weight and worn alone or stacked.

Each Kiota Ring is hand-formed. Variations in texture and form are inherent to the process, ensuring no two pieces are identical.

Ciphered Signet Ring
NOK 1,200.00

DESCRIPTION

Handmade in 99.9% fine silver, the Ciphered Signet Ring (Act I) reimagines the ancient tradition of the signet. Designed with a gemstone set into the face and ciphered initials engraved on the reverse, it leaves the wearer to decide what to reveal and what to conceal.

Each piece is shaped by hand and slow-crafted using traditional firing and finishing methods, ensuring no two are ever the same. Sculptural and architectural in form, the ring holds the intimacy of a secret made personal through your initials and your choice of how to wear it.

Kiota Ring II
NOK 600.00

In Swahili, Kiota means “nest.”

Kiota II is an evolution of the original Kiota ring, inspired by African birds and their instinctual architecture whose forms are built through repetition and patience.

This version introduces ethically sourced stones from my home country of Namibia. Each stone is naturally varied in colour, cut, and character, making every Kiota II inherently one of a kind. Once a ring is sold, it will never be remade. Kiota II exists only in the materials available at the time of creation, and new variations are released solely based on what is in stock.

Crafted with care from soft, lead-free metals (Sn 95%, Ag 5%), the ring balances strength and fluidity. Tarnish-resistant and nickel-free, it is designed for lasting comfort. Lightweight enough for daily wear, Kiota II can be worn alone or stacked with other Kiota forms.

The design embraces imperfection, texture, and individuality so no two Kiota II rings are ever the same.

Marked Ring
NOK 1,800.00

Marked is inspired by scarification practices found across African cultures, including those of the Oshiwambo peoples of northern Namibia and my own Kwambi lineage on my father’s side.

Among several Oshiwambo tribes, scarification historically served different purposes: to signify belonging and identity, to mark stages of life, and in some cases, to support physical well-being through believed medicinal or protective functions. These markings were and are permanent records carried on the body.

I do not carry these scars myself. My parents chose not to continue the practice with their children as traditions evolved over time. This ring exists as an alternative form of preservation: a way of holding memory, lineage, and initiation through material rather than skin.

Formed in fine silver, the surface bears deliberate vertical incisions. Each mark is uneven, singular, and irreversible, echoing the gravity of ancestral marking rites. The band is substantial and sculptural.

Marked is an homage to scarification as initiation. A reminder that what is no longer carried on the body can still be held, remembered, and honored through other permanent forms.

Each ring is individually hand-formed and fired, resulting in subtle variations that make every piece unique.

Prologue Ring
NOK 1,099.00

DESCRIPTION

Handmade in 99.9% fine silver, the Prologue ring is sculptural, raw, and intentionally off-balance. Its form draws from brutalist architecture, sharp in places, soft in others and no two rings are ever exactly alike. Each piece is shaped by hand and slow-crafted using traditional firing and finishing methods. A wearable artifact to mark the beginning of the initiate collection.
