A hand-made ritual based collection exploring the rites of initiation from separation to sovereignty.
Across cultures, initiation marks the passage from one state of being into another.
Anthropologically, rites of initiation follow a shared structure, namely, separation from what was known, a period of ordeal and endurance, transformation and then a return with altered status and/or understanding.
The Initiate Collection follows this arc on multiple levels. It draws from the anthropological framework of initiation, while also reflecting a personal initiation into jewelry making as a craft and discipline.
Each piece functions as a marker within this structure, corresponding to a stage of initiation and the transformation it signifies.

SEPARATION
In initiations, separation marks the moment of departure, leaving what was once familiar behind in pursuit of a new version of self. This collection is meant to represent the brutality and loneliness of that first break, where certainty dissolves and the process of transformation is set in motion.
